Agder Renovasjon IKS is an intermunicipal company owned by the municipalities of Arendal, Froland, and Grimstad.
Through the Pollution Control Act, municipalities are assigned responsibilities related to household waste collection and waste reception services.
Purpose
The purpose of the company is to carry out the owner municipalities’ responsibilities related to waste management in a way that is economically, resource-efficient, and environmentally sound, while also contributing to increased environmental awareness among residents.
Tasks
We are responsible for the collection, reception, and treatment of waste and sludge.
The company operates a landfill in Heftingsdalen, which also includes facilities for composting food waste, grinding wood waste, sludge treatment, secure shredding, and compacting plastic, paper, and cardboard.
A reuse shop is also operated in Heftingsdalen.
Waste and sludge collection is subject to competitive tendering and is carried out by external contractors.
Since 2021, we have also taken over responsibility for billing the waste collection fee.

Board of directors
Agder Renovasjon IKS is governed by a corporate assembly and a board of directors.
The term of office follows the municipal election period.
The board also includes an employee representative.
