Collection surcharge – 20% of the annual fee*

All housing units must pay a subscription fee (fixed part), in addition to a residual waste fee determined by the volume of the residual waste bin. This applies to those with a standard subscription and those who share bins. Where bins are shared, the residual waste fee is divided among the housing units sharing the bins.

*If the waste bins are more than 5 meters from where the waste collection truck stops, a collection surcharge must be paid.

Standard subscription

Most households have a standard subscription.

• 140-liter bin for food waste – emptied every week
• 140-liter bin for paper/cardboard – emptied every 3 weeks
• 140-liter bin for residual waste – emptied every 3 weeks
• 140-liter bin for glass/metal – emptied every 8 weeks
• 140-liter bag or 140-liter bin for plastic – emptied every 3 weeks
• Carrier bag for hazardous/EE waste hung on the hook on the bin – emptied every week

Larger bins

You can get larger bins (240 liters) for paper, plastic, and glass/metal. It costs kr. 250,- per delivery (regardless of the number of bins). There will be no increase in the annual waste fee. You can also get a larger bin for residual waste, but this will increase the annual waste fee.

Mini subscription

A mini subscription is suitable for those who have little residual waste. With a mini subscription, you pay 50% of the residual waste fee for 140 liters.

You get a yellow lid on the residual waste bin. We charge a fee of kr. 250,- for changing the lid. Residual waste is emptied every 6 weeks. Other types of waste are emptied as per the standard subscription.

Shared subscription/collaboration

Several housing units can share larger waste bins. Suitable for apartment buildings, row houses, and detached houses that are close together.

Also suitable for areas where it is difficult to access with a waste collection truck, and a common collection point can be placed closer to the road. Waste is sorted and collected in larger common waste containers and collected as often as a standard subscription.

Each housing unit sharing bins pays a fixed subscription fee of kr. 1 445,58. The size and number of bins (total volume) for residual waste determine the size of the residual waste fee. It costs kr. 24.09 per liter of residual waste. The residual waste fee is equally divided among the households participating in the subscription. Each household receives its own bill. Leisure subscription (cabins and holiday homes)

• In Arendal and Grimstad, waste is collected from cabins from Easter (no later than April 1st) to October 31st.
• In Froland, waste is collected all year round.

Most cabins are assigned to common collection points for waste. Cabins located along roads that are accessible all year round can have their own bins. Cabins with their own bins have light gray lids on the residual waste bin. Cabins with their own bins have the option of year-round waste collection. You can order a standard subscription (black lid on the residual waste bin) or a mini subscription (yellow lid on the residual waste bin). Where there are common collection points for cabin waste, you cannot order individual bins to be placed with the common bins.

Home composting

If you compost food waste in an approved winter-insulated compost bin, you can apply for a reduced waste fee.

Placement of bins

If you don’t have space to keep the waste bins on your own property, you must find another place to put them. Remember to agree on the placement with the landowner.

The permanent placement of the waste bins must not obstruct work on and near the road (snow plowing, edge trimming, etc.). You must also ensure that the bins are placed in a way that provides a clear line of sight for traffic at intersections and along the road.

The bins must be placed a maximum of 5 meters from where the waste collection truck stops by 6:00 AM on the collection day.

Surcharge for extra collection distance

You can arrange to have the bins placed further than 5 meters away for a collection surcharge. Such an arrangement is only possible for containers of 140 or 240 liters and for a distance of up to 30 meters. The collection surcharge is 20% of the annual fee.

Remember that it must be possible for the waste collectors to wheel the bins without obstacles (steps, snow, etc.). A door or gate that must be passed counts as 5 meters of collection distance.

Feel free to label the bins

If multiple subscribers have waste bins in the same location, you can label your bins with your house number. You can order stickers from Agder Renovasjon. Send us an email: kundesenter@agderrenovasjon.no

Exemption from waste fee

If the residence remains unoccupied for 6 months or more, you can apply for an exemption from paying the waste fee. The bins will then be collected. You can apply for an exemption for a maximum of 1 year. When the exemption expires, the waste fee will be reinstated unless you apply for an extension of the exemption. The customer must contact Agder Renovasjon IKS to have the bins placed out again when the exemption expires. Send us an email to apply.
