Winter stations (shared waste bins)
Winter stations are placed in areas where it is not safe to drive a waste collection truck due to snow and ice during certain periods.
The bins are emptied on the same collection day and with the same frequency as usual.
- The winter stations are set out on November 1st and removed on April 1st.
- From November 1st to December 1st, waste is collected as usual if road conditions allow. If the waste collector deems it unsafe to drive to the properties, only the winter station will be emptied.
- From December 1st to March 1st, the winter station must be used. The waste collector will not drive to the properties during this period.
- From March 1st to April 1st, waste is collected as usual if road conditions allow. If the waste collector deems it unsafe to drive to the properties, only the winter station will be emptied.
Important!
Bins placed out for winter use must be cleared of snow so the waste collector can access and empty them.
Bins that are covered in snow or stuck in hard-packed snow will not be emptied.
It is the responsibility of the residents using the winter station to ensure the bins are accessible.
