Underground Waste Containers

Underground containers refer to waste bins that are fully or partially buried.
The purpose of introducing underground waste containers is to reduce fire hazards and provide a high-quality solution for areas with dense housing, narrow or inaccessible roads, and locations where aesthetic considerations are important.

The containers are emptied using crane trucks, and the emptying frequency is adjusted based on the needs of each station.
Access hatches are opened using a key fob where containers are locked.

Waste sorting

It is very important to sort waste into the correct categories:

  • Food waste
  • Paper/cardboard
  • Glass/metal packaging
  • Plastic packaging
  • Residual waste

Hazardous waste and electronic waste must NOT be disposed of in underground containers.
These must be delivered to a waste reception facility or a retailer.
Electronics can be delivered free of charge to any store that sells the same type of product, regardless of brand, or to the nearest recycling station.
Batteries and light bulbs can be returned to grocery stores.

Large items must not be placed next to the containers, but delivered to a waste reception facility.
Do not stuff large items into the containers, especially cardboard, as this may block the chute.

Key fob access

Some stations are locked.
Hold the key fob in front of the marked area on the hatch unit to open the lid.

If you experience problems opening the hatch or need additional key fobs, contact Agder Renovasjon IKS at 370 58800.
Agder Renovasjon is also responsible for emptying the containers.

Lost or damaged key fobs are invoiced at NOK 100,-
Invoices are sent by email or post.

Snow clearing

Please help us keep the area around the containers free of snow, so we can empty them.
Containers that are snowed in or inaccessible will not be emptied.
