Cabin waste collection
In Arendal and Grimstad, cabin waste is collected from Easter (no later than April 1st) until October 31st.
In Froland, waste is collected year-round.
Cabin waste is charged at 60% of the full waste fee, but the fee is divided into four invoices throughout the year.
Waste collection setup
Most cabins are connected to shared waste collection points.
Cabins located along roads accessible year-round may have individual bins.
Cabins with individual bins have a light grey lid on the residual waste bin.
These cabins may opt for year-round waste collection by choosing either:
Standard subscription (black lid on residual waste bin)
Mini subscription (yellow lid on residual waste bin)
Cabins connected to shared collection points cannot order individual bins to be placed alongside shared containers.
Leisure/Cabin subscription – 140 litres residual waste
Fixed fee: NOK 867.35
Residual waste fee: NOK 2,023.87
Annual fee: NOK 2,891.22
Cabin waste season
In Arendal and Grimstad, cabin waste collection runs from Easter (no later than April 1st) to October 31st.
In Froland, waste is collected year-round, though less frequently outside the main season.
Agder Renovasjon is responsible for collecting cabin waste.
Shared waste sheds and containers are emptied as needed.
During peak season, this is typically 2–3 times per week.
For cabins with individual bins, waste is collected according to the same schedule as permanent residences.
See the collection frequency for permanent residences [here].
Where to dispose of waste

If you’re unsure where to dispose of your waste, contact us.
If your disposal point fills up quickly, please let us know — we aim to improve cabin waste services.
Labeling individual bins
Label your bins with name and address to help the waste collectors locate your cabin.
Source sorting
Cabin waste must be source-sorted.
Cabins with individual bins
If you have your own bins, you should have a 140 litres bin for each of the following waste types:
- Food waste
- Paper/cardboard
- Plastic packaging
- Glass/metal packaging
- Residual waste (with light grey lid to indicate cabin subscription)
Small hazardous/EE waste items should be placed in a carrier bag and hung on a plastic hook.
Waste is collected as for permanent residences during the cabin season.
If you need a collection schedule, contact us.
See collection routines [here].
Cabins using shared containers or waste sheds
- Paper/cardboard and glass/metal packaging must be sorted into designated containers.
- In some locations, containers for food waste and plastic packaging are also available.
- Residual waste should be placed in the container or bins in the waste shed.
- Hazardous waste such as paint, glue, varnish, oil, and gasoline must be delivered to a waste facility.
- All electrical items (e.g., mobile phones, drills, electric grills, light bulbs, toasters) must be delivered to a waste facility.
- Large items such as furniture, demolition waste, refrigerators, etc., must also be delivered to a facility.
Do not leave these items around sheds or containers.
We wish you a wonderful cabin stay!
